STUDENT MEDICAL AND ACCIDENT INSURANCE:
The health, safety and well-being of our students are priorities for Davis Joint Unified School District. We want to inform you that while our district does not provide medical or dental insurance coverage for injuries sustained on school premises, during school activities, or while participating in athletics, there are options available to secure this coverage for your family.
Here are a few options to consider so that your family is covered:
- You may be eligible for Medi Cal coverage. Please visit this site to learn more about the eligibility requirements and how to apply.
-
You may sign up for voluntary student accident insurance that complies with the California Education Code and provides several options of coverage at a low cost. Click the link, search for your school site, and follow the instructions.
For more information about either of these options, please contact Jennifer Mullin, Manager of Student Support Services at [email protected].
SPORTS INJURY CLINIC:
Wednesdays 2-5 pm in the Training Room
DHS Team Physical Therapist Carina Bender-Abrams is available during clinic hours for student athletes to come get help with current or past injuries. After discussing the history and nature of the injury, we do movement assessment and specific testing to assess the problem and provide a program to assist the athlete in managing it. Referrals will be made to the external medical team as appropriate. Open to all student athletes related to Blue Devils Athletics for consultation and assistance managing injuries.
TEAM PERFORMANCE SCREENINGS AND PROGRAMMING:
By appointment - contact Carina Bender-Abrams
DHS Team Physical Therapist provides regular movement screenings and associated programming for all sports, beginning with assessment of injury risk, and progressing to sport specific performance testing. This leads to development and implementation of team and individual exercise programs for warm up, sport specific strength and conditioning, and recovery routines to optimize performance and minimize injury risk. Injury consultations and associated treatments occur at regular intervals both in season and between seasons.
